Thursday, December 1, 2011

Community Conversation ToolkitDec 1, 2011 - C-Change Swaziland and Swaziland’s National Emergency Response Council on HIV/AIDS (NERCHA) are mobilizing local communities around HIV prevention using a toolkit developed with input from these same communities. This Community Conversation Toolkit for HIV Prevention is in the Siswati language.and employs local proverbs with art work depicting the local culture.

In October, C-Change conducted orientations for 12 Swaziland partners to assist them with using the toolkit with adults age 20 and older as a complement to existing HIV prevention programs. The tools (cards, finger puppets, proverbs, thow boxes, playing cards, and dialogue buttons) provide a fun, playful, and low-key way to talk about difficult and sometimes taboo subjects in social settings.

Visit C-Hub to download the toolkit in Siswati as well as Chichewa, Kikaonde, Ndebele, Lozi, Sotho, Zulu Sesotho, and English. Soul City lead the adaptations of the toolkit in the Kiaonde language in Zambia, in the Ndebele language in Zimbabwe, in the Lozi language in Namibia, and the Chichewa language in Malawi.
