Wits awards 1st MPH with concentration in SBCC
C-Change congratulates the first MPH graduate with a concentration in SBCC from the University of Witwatersrand School of Public Health in South Africa, and the 11 students who have completed course work towards the same degree.
C‑Change partners Soul City and Ohio University collaborated to develop the center of excellence in SBCC at the University of Witwatersrand (Wits). The SBCC concentration is unique among public health schools in Africa.
Master’s-level SBCC courses were launched in January 2010 at Wits with 13 students; a series of short certificate courses on SBCC have been offered since 2009. The courses are suitable for graduate students and for working professionals in government and at NGOs, who plan and implement SBCC or engage in research in the field. Beginning in 2012, Wits is also offering three short courses in SBCC.
