e-Subscriptions
C-Change has initiated two regular
e-subscriptions on information about behavior and social
change communication in the health, environment, and civil
society sectors. They include the monthly e-newsletter
C-Channel and the bi-monthly e-magazine C-Change
Picks.
C-Channel is an e-newsletter launched in
September 2008 that presents a selection of recent,
peer-reviewed journal articles about behavior and social
change communication around family planning, reproductive
health, HIV and AIDS, malaria, primary health care, and
social and gender norms. Initiated by C-Change in
collaboration with AED-SATELLIFE, C-Channel makes
the abstracts and full journal articles available free of
charge to readers in the developing world, via email. The
free-of-charge feature is based on long-standing agreements
that AED-SATELLIFE has forged with a number of health and
medical publishers. For readers in the industrialized world,
the title with a short descriptive note is placed in the
email with a link to the full article, freely available in
Open Access, or downloadable upon payment of a fee to the
journal. To access the most recent industrialized version,

C-Change Picks is a periodic e-magazine launched in
August 2008 and implemented by The Communication Initiative
with major support from C-Change that includes summaries of
recent case studies, reports, analyses, and resources with a
focus on behavior and social change communication in health,
environment, and civil society. The e-magazine reflects the
current emphasis by C-Change on behavior and social change
communication for programs in family planning and

The Communication Initiative’s recent Drum Beat #461 (September
19, 2008) is devoted to information about the C-Change
program: the research agenda and activities, and the country
implementation programs. Read the issue to see how C-Change
is building competencies in southern Africa through support
for the establishment of a Center of Excellence in the School
of Public Health at the University of Witwatersrand in South
Africa. Find out about a program that provides specialized
training to local journalists to increase their health
reporting skills. Access the section on Country Program
Activities to find out what C-Change is doing in Namibia and
Lesotho in behavior change communication around HIV and AIDS
and in Madagascar with youth and environment activities.
Learn about its work in Albania to increase family planning
services and work in Central Asia and Eastern Europe to
empower the average consumer to demand better health
care.
